I am passionate about making the semiconductor industry more sustainable. I find this topic fascinating due to its complexity and the intersectionality it presents. It offers so many opportunities: new technological developments, business changes, employee action, and social justice. My first publication was a collaboration with the Innovation Research Interchange and Babson College researchers:
More recently, I was a first author on the analysis of how simulation and AI can minimize carbon emission in the R&D environment by reducing the need for physical experimentation in the cleanroom:
One of my areas of interest enabled by work at Lam Research (more details in the Projects section).
I have been experimenting with writing longer-form content on Medium. My first article covers my impressions after reading a variety of career books on effective work in large corporations. The second article describes my career transition into sustainability and some universal lessons from this experience. I also added an English translation of an article I published in a Polish newspaper, "Gazeta Wyborcza".
My main research topic in academia (or at least the one I thought I'd study the most). My experience with electrochemistry started at Warsaw University during high school summers. I got captivated by artificial photosynthesis thanks to Yale's Gary Brudvig and then continued the vision of exploring the use of renewable electricity for catalytic conversion at UC Berkeley with my advisor, Paul Alivisatos (now at UChicago).
The journey toward a PhD is full of surprises, and my initial research endeavors did not yield the results I had hoped for. However, this experience taught me the importance of pursuing intriguing discoveries and bouncing back from setbacks. I think that successful science always involves teamwork. It was a challenging yet fulfilling process of acquiring valuable skills and discovering how they can benefit the work of others.
